Joely Williams is a poet and multidisciplinary artist based in Columbia, South Carolina, with roots in the Bronx and the Caribbean diaspora.
Her work lives at the intersection of the everyday and the estranging- concrete images, diaspora memory, a persistent attention to what things look like just before they change.
She is the founder of the Poetry Letter Club (@poems_neverdie)- a handwritten letter subscription where each letter is shaped by what you tell her you want to see. Inside: poems from whatever she's working on that week, a tea bag, a journaling prompt, a word prompt in a handmade mini envelope, ekphrastic poem inspiration, a rough draft image, and a trinket she picked with you in mind.
She writes poetry, flash fiction, noir, speculative fiction, magical realism, and ekphrasis. Her work has appeared in and been considered by venues including Penn Review, Harpur Palate, Rock and a Hard Place Press, Omenana, The Deadlands, and others.
